Greetings Tesla Hertz Runners,

We hope everyone is feeling healthy and ready to run as race day is approaching fast. After the last email we have gotten some good questions and put together what we think will be a helpful prep to your race on Oct. 12/13th.

Race Bib Pick-up:

Sayville Running Co. has opened their doors for us for pick up on friday from 12pm-6pm. This way you can get any last minute, shoes, shirts, shorts, fuel, bottles, socks, or whatever else you may need.We will be there to answer any other questions or concerns you have. As well as, just to meet you.

Of course if you can’t get there during these hours,  we will bring your swag to the race for an early 5am pickup. Please get there at least 30 minutes before your race start.

Cancellations/Swapping:

We have passed the full refund date, however, if under some circumstance you can not make it to the race please send an email and we can make changes based on the individual. If you plan changing your bib to another runner, let us know by Oct. 5th, so we can make that possible.  We ask no one show up on race day who is running under someone else’s name without informing us first.  We are not responsible for any monetary transactions with bib switching. each runner can handle their own transactions.

Aid Stations:

There will be two aid stations, North Country, which will be the start and the finish of each loop and The Whiskey Girl, which is just about 5 miles into each loop. Each will be stocked with plenty of food, snacks, water, hammer nutrition, and other goodies. If there is anything you would like us to have please let us know as soon as possible.  Especially if there are certain diets or allergies we can cater to. Crew members can access both stations; there is parking nearby, as well as space for your drop bags.

Crew/Pacers:

Being a 10 mile loop, there is plenty of access to your bags at the beginning and end of each loop (North Country aid station), so please feel free to leave a drop bag with anything you would like there. We will also have a truck bringing drop bags to The Whiskey Girl aid station at the start of the race. So if you have anything you think you will need at the 5 mile mark on any given lap, please feel free to label your bag with your name and bib number and we will drop it off at the aid station (please don’t bring a bag that is larger that a carry-on).

Again, being this is a 10 mile loop with two aid stations, we ask that crew only park at the North Country and Whiskey Girl aid stations.. There are a few road crossings, but they are on windy roads with no real spots to park. We also ask that no one pace until after 12 hours into the race. This allows the field to narrow out, and you, the runner, to run most of the race on your own.

Lodging:

We have included a map on our website http://teslahertzrun.com/?page_id=46 of hotels and inns in the area. Danford’s is a decent place to stay however, it is a little pricy.  The Wading River Hotel looks nice, and is also very close to the start, maybe a 10/15 min drive.  If you are looking for a higher star hotel we recommend either the Holiday Inn or the Hilton, they are bigger names and less like a motel.

If you like to camp, there are many campgrounds on the island, Wildwood State Park http://www.reserveamerica.com/campgroundDetails.do?subTabIndex=0&contractCode=ny&parkCode=wild

in Wading River, is the closest,  they are open until Oct 14th.  There is no camping at the start/finish of the course.

Times –

100mile – 6:00am

100k       –  7:00am

50mile  –   7:30am

50k        –   8:00am

All runners will be given a hard cut off time of 12 noon on Sunday Oct 13th.  You must be out on your last loop by 9am and runners must reach the Whiskey Girl aid station by  on 10 :30 Sunday Oct 13th to finish on time.  If you must drop please let someone know at the aid station so we can take you off the list and we aren’t searching for you later. If you drop at Whiskey Girl we will provide you a ride back to North Country if you do not have crew with you.
